They are in the valve body, inside the transmission, behind the side transmission pan.
where is the transmission speed sensor located on a 2005 ford taurus
There is no OD relay. All transmission shift functions are controled by the vehicle's PCM, using shift solenoids in the transmssion itself.
The speed sensor on a 1999 Taurus is on top of the transmission. It is located directly under the number 2 cylinder.
All the solenoids for the transmission are inside the valve body. The side pan ( drives side ) on the transmission is the valve body cover. There is a manual lever position sensor at the transmission. This is at the end of the shifter cable at the transmission.

Sorry, we can't do pictures.
no such thing as a trans switch
Near the firewall , between the engine and transmission ( transaxle )
On a 1997 Ford Taurus : The transaxle ( transmission for a front wheel drive vehicle ) is located in the engine compartment bolted to the engine
There are many many 'solenoids' on a vehicle. It is impossible to offer any useful information without knowing which ones/parts of the car/function the solenoids you're looking for. Please post a new questions which includes sufficient detail.
The filter is located inside the transmission. Access is gained by removing the transmission fluid pan on the bottom of the transmission.
