The 2003 Mazda engine coolant temperature sensor is located on the front of the engine, above the thermostat housing. The sensor will have to wires leading to it.
Most knock sensors are located in the block on the firewall side. Should be the only sensor with two wires in the block. It will also have a camshaft position sensor as well. Hope that helps. I am not educated on Mazda engines.
I'm not sure on that particular engine but it can be found in water jacket on cylinder head, it should have 2 wires and if you remove it there should be coolant behind it.
the solenoid is on the starter. It's the part the wires go into.

Check for a break in the ground wires. There will be several possible break areas. When one of the wires breaks you could lose the ground on the Maxima.
The Mazda stereo wiring consists of five different colors. The red wire is the positive wire. The black wire is the ground wire. The purple and yellow wires are the speaker wires. The white wire is the auxiliary wire.
Looking at your engine you will see on top 2 black blocks (coils) and wires that come out of them into the engine. Pull the wires from the engine, and unscrew the coils from the top and remove them. Once you do, youll be able to see the plugs and remove them.
There are three ground wires to the engine. One goes from the Strut Tower to the back of the Cylider head left hand side (front) of the engine. Another goes from the Strut tower to the top of the engine mount. The third one is on the back of the head on the right hand side. This ground has a square black transistor on it and grounds the ignition system.
4 Spark Plugs are lined in a row at the top of the engine down the middle (Follow the wires on the top!). A basic, NGK BKR6E Spark Plug pack is generally recommended.
The black wires are the heater wires, the white wire is the signal wire and the green is the ground wire.
