Under the windshield directly on top of the motor. Its tucked in a little far back but you are able to see it for sure. Its rectangular with three identical ignition coils right next to eachother. All of the spark plug wires run into it. You cant miss it.

On a 2.8l v6 it is at the front of the engine behind the ignition coils.

In the center back of the engine top, he has three coils, one of each is for two cilinders, they are mounting on ignition module, they looks like unique assembly, but really you could replace separately if you prefer.
the 1999 Chevy venture does not have distributor cap, he has a electronic module assembly, assembly is module and three coils, they are located on the top of the engine, back in the medium near of the firewall.

I have a '98 with 2.2L and mine is distributorless. Instead, it has ignition coils.
IF IT IS A 4 CYL YOU PROBABLY HAVE A BAD CRANK SENSOR OR IGNITION MODULE.
