Virtually all vehicles since 1994 use refrigerant r-134a. On a 97 Suburban, the suction (low pressure) and discharge (high pressure) ports are located on top of the compressor. Refrigerant is added to the low pressure side. It is attached to the larger refrigerant piping and hose which runs to the accumulator-drier at the firewall. The smaller high pressure pipe attaches to the condenser located in front of the radiator. Do NOT attach a refrigerant can to the high pressure line.
The AC is charged off of the same ports that your front AC runs off of . I just had this problem after taking it to a shop my front AC was Ice Cold but Rear was warm. I added 2 extra lbs. of freon through the front ports located under the hood and now both systems blow cold. It calls for 4.8 lbs. of freon.
The air conditioner compressor has two parts on the top of it. Connect your Freon recharge kit to the appropriate ports. Disconnect from the ports when the Freon reads full.
If it is a factory ac the front and rear use the same ports. It just takes more freon for one with dual units
Purchase a Freon recharge kit. Connects the Freon hoses to the ports on the air conditioner compressor. Release the Freon into the compressor.
It is illegal to refill the freon without first checking for leaks in the system, but the fill port is located on an aluminum looking line that comes out of the firewall near the passenger side dashboard. There are actually 2 ports on 2 separate line, one is the liquid line, one is the vapor line. If you are filling with liquid refrigerant, make sure you put it in the liquid(thinner) line or you could blow the compressor.
It depends on the year but in most cases from 1993 and up they will use R134a freon but you can always check the VIN number with the dealer and remember that R134a freon will have larger service ports that R-12 freon............
It has 2 ports at the front
both the high and low pressure ports are located on the top of the engine to the right of the throttle body looking at the front of the truck. There's a silver cylinder that can act as a landmark for you. The ports will hopefully have a plastic cover over them.
When charging your Jaguar X-type air conditioning unit you will need R-135a Freon with oil added in. There are 2 ports on the air conditioning unit, one big and one small. Make sure that the car is running and the air conditioner is on full blast, then hook the Freon refill rig onto the port that it fits to recharge the system.
The R134a professional manifold gauge or gauges uses three hoses that each connect to the low and high ports of an AC system. The remaining hose connects to the can refrigerant. Use the gauges to check for leaks and see how refrigerant is need to refill the freon.
Refrigerators are typically factory charged then sealed and there are no access ports to do what you are asking.
Connect the Freon recharge hoses to the ports on the air conditioner compressor. With the hoses connected release the Freon into the compressor.
