The engine cylinders are numbered , front to rear , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 The TOWERS on the COIL PACKS are numbered : ( 3 - 1 ) ( 2 - 4 )----spark plug wires to passenger side of engine ( exhaust ) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ( 4 - 2 ) ( 1 - 3 )---spark plug wires cross over top of engine to drivers side ( intake ) FRONT OF ENGINE ( the spark plug firing order is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2 )
The 2.5L engine has 8 plugs and it does only have 4 Cylinders...It has a dual ignition system.The 2 rear spark plugs and wires on the Driver's side are hard to get to...
Disconnect the battery, remove the spark plugs wires and boots and remove the spark plugs. Put in the spark plugs, replace the spark plug wires and boots, and connect the battery.

Do this one plug at a time, and reconnect that wire so as to not get wires mixed up. REMOVAL Remove spark plug wires from spark plugs with a Spark Plug Wire Remover tool, pull outward on the boot with a slight side-to-side twist. Loosen spark plugs and remove any dirt or foreign material from spark plug areas of cylinder head with compressed air. Remove spark plugs. INSTALLATION Inspect and adjust spark plugs. Spark Plug Gap: 0.042" to 0.046". Install spark plugs. Tighten spark plugs to 9-20 N.m (7-15 lb in). Connect spark plug wires to spark plugs.
P0300 means random misfire detected which probably has to do with the spark plugs or the plug wires
You will see wires right on top of the motor. You can easily follow these wires to the spark plugs.
