Screwed into the head. 3 on each side. To elaborate, the plugs are located 3 on a side in a vertical position. Look right behind the alternator, and you'll see a part about an inch square, shaped like a Baseball home plate (black in color). There is a connector attached with 2 small wires attached. That piece is held on with a 10mm nut. Remove the nut (2 of them are covered with a guide for a hose), remove the connector by squeezing it and tugging it off, and the entire assembly will pull out vertically. Underneath is the spark plug. I found it easier to remove the back two on the passenger side when I removed the air intake plenum.
