The Ford 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine uses ( 3 ) timing chains :

At the FRONT of the engine there is a main chain from the crankshaft to what is called the " jackshaft " ( the jackshaft is in the same place as the camshaft for the 4.0 liter OHV / pushrod style engine )

There is a 2nd chain from the jackshaft to the drivers side cylinder head at the FRONT of the engine

There is a 3rd chain from the jackshaft to the passenger side cylinder head at the REAR of the engine
