Depending on the country and period when the marriage occurred, marriage records may be in National archives, Civil Archives, Court records, records of Health Departments or Ministries of Health, Town Clerks offices, or the records of religious institutions.

Another answer

If the marriage took place in the United States during the past fifty years or so, the marriage will likely be recorded with the county where the marriage took place. Contact the county recorder's office.

You can find marriage records by contacting the appropriate government office where the marriage occurred. They are usually located at the county clerk's office, recorder's office or probate court. Some of these agencies provide a free online database where you can search by either bride's or groom's name. Other agencies will also provide an online search for a small fee.

Marriage records can be found in many places. They are often in the local government office, the place where the marriage licenses are issued. That is typically going to be the county courthouse where the marriage took place.

They are also often found in churches where the ceremonies took place.

How do you find death records for genealogical research?

Records of death certificates are generally kept by states, at least for the last 100 years or so. The National Center for Health Statistics has information on obtaining birth, death, marriage, and divorce records. Specifically, look at their page "Where to write for vital records" and select your state. Some of this information is also available online through Genealogy.com, if you pay for a membership. try http://www.vitalchek.com/ from the site: "Order birth certificates quickly and conveniently. Also, get copies of death, marriage, and divorce records delivered to your door." This is an excellent site. I use it regularly. Tina You can check death records FREE on line by using the Social Security Death Index at www.rootsweb.com or more specifically http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi Good Luck!

How do you get a birth certificate?

The federal government does not provide copies of birth certificates, marriage licenses, divorce decrees, death certificates, or any other personal vital records. Copies of birth certificates and other personal vital records can only be obtained from the state or US possession where the documents were originally filed. Most states provide a centralized source from which birth certificates and other vital records can be ordered.

How do you find 2011 Georgia marriage records but don't know the county?

Marriage records are available to the general public in Georgia. The Georgia Department of Health, Office of Vital Records maintains marriage records from 1952 to 1996. Marriage records after 1996 (and before 1952) can only be obtained from the probate court in the county where the license was issued. There are a few counties that provide online marriage record databases where you can search for records by bride or groom name, such as Cherokee County. Maybe you will be lucky and find it. You may have to contact the individual county probate courts, or you can try contacting the state vital records office at 404-679-4702 and ask if a search is feasible. Good luck!
