What name was Coronation Street originally to be called?
[Because the road was probably named to celebrate the coronation of Queen Victoria or a later monarch] Queen Victoria's coronation was in 1838, so presumably the name refers to the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. The fictional Coronation Street in Weatherfield was originally to have been called Florizel Street: it was changed becaue it was thought that sounded too much like some kind of disinfectant that's put down the loo!
