I have found ordering a catalog from Performance Products to be quite helpful in determining what things are. They usually have very nice line drawings of each vehicle, with exploded views and associated names of things, and of course prices for replacement parts. I am a fairly inexperienced home mechanic and sometimes this is very helpful when simply trying to figure out "what's that?".
