The materials used to make plastic could come from coal, wood / plant oils or bio mass. They could be produced by fermenting sugar from crops and using the alcohol as a starting material (feedstock)for the production of the raw materials.
As far as I know nobody makes such plastics commercially yet, but someone else might know more......
Try googling " bioplastics " for more information
Crude oil
no. there non-polar
Plastic bottles, atlhough originally made from petroleum, do not leach oil; the oil has been transformed into plastic and there is no oil in the plastic. Plastic bottles may, in some cases, leach bisphenol A, which is a plasticising agent (i.e., it is used to make the material more flexible).
Plastic is made from oil, usually fossil fuel oil.
Detergents typically have a polar head and non-polar. Polar things dissolve polar things, and non-polar dissolves non-polar. Water-based stains are polar, or hydrophilic, so the head group helps break them apart. The oil-based stains are broken down by the non-polar, or hydrophobic, tail groups.
Crude oil
Non, they can be recycled but all plastic is oil-derived.
NEGATIVE IT WILL PEEL
Synthetic plastic is made from the non-renewable source petroleum. When we think of oil shortages we tend to focus on gasoline ignoring or perhaps being unaware of the many other products derived from oil refinement. See the link below for a simple explanation of how plastics are made:
yes. Plastic is a petroleum product and petroleum is a non-renewable resource
Non-biodegradable materials are things that can't be broken down easily by natural processes. For example, plastic shopping bags would take thousands of years to be degraded (broken down). Some examples of non-biodegradable materials are: plastic polystyrene (styrofoam) metals foams glasses silicon-based materials/circuit boards oil ashes
Dacron is one of the names for an artificially produced, oil based plastic
No. Silica, or silicon dioxide, is acquired from common sand. In nature it occurs as the mineral quartz.
Polyester is a non-renewable resource. Polyester is made from plastics, plastic is made from oil. Oil is a non-renewable resource, as the world is running out of oil already and there is no more being created.
Plastic has absolutely no nutritional value. It is made from oil based products and is not edible. Plastic cannot be broken down in the body.
Yes, most plastic is made from non-renewable fossil fuel oil and petroleum. Some plastics are beginning to be made from renewable vegetable oils, which means they are bio-degradable.
no. there non-polar
