However, although they share common ancestors, selective breeding resulted in the differences between their coat type and colors. I do know that a Westie does shed.Every dog does, but they don't shed much depending on how well you bath and brush them. They also are from 9in. to 12in. tall from what I've read. They also weigh 18 to 22 pounds. I have a Westie, and he is great. He's really very sweet, but he also has a very expensive disease that was probably genetic. Be careful about the breeder you buy from, and if you can, get a mutt. They rarely have bad genetic problems because of inbreeding or something like that because people usually don't breed them.
