The best source for free is your public library. Search for children's picture books, especially the older books printed in the 1930's to 1950's. Use some onion skin paper to trace some great animals. The variety is there in Children's Books and in very, very old coloring books. Other sources are magazines such as Nature, National Geographic, and even some Highlights magazines.
Another source is yard sales. Hit yard sales at the last hour to half hour because usually kids coloring books and picture books will end up in the recycling and/or trash at end of the last day.
Some country churches have yard sales and you will be amazed by the craft items you can find contributed by older congregation members that might have done needlepoint, sewing, and crochet.
