You should always begin stacking your dog's outside legs first, because these are the legs that that judge first sees. In general, it is good practice to stack the outside foreleg, outside hind leg, and then the two inside legs. I hope this helped, have fun in showmanship!
It depends on what you are showing it in. For Conformation, there is a special group called Junior Showmanship, where kids 8-17 can show their dogs. Read the rules of the show.
The Oldest One I Could Find Is "Love Leads the Way" From 1984
Probably the down-and-back, where the judge sends you in a straight line away, and then a straight line back. This is a popular pattern in AKC showmanship due to the fact that most judges use this pattern in regular conformation. The down-and-back is useful to the judge in that it allows them, in a short period of time, to see the movement of the dog from behind and in front.
