Answer 65th Fighter Squadron HistoryIt may not be possible to find the History of the 65th Fighter Squadron without getting it as part of the 57th Fighter Group History.

There is a History of the 66th Fighter Squadron. It was put together by Lt. Col. Charles C. Leaf the CO of the 66th toward the end of the war and printed in Italy. It's called "Calling Jackpot" which was there call sign.

Charley was in the 66th from January 1943 till it was deactivated in 1945.

In microfilm available from Maxwell AFB Research Agency there are Histories of the Group as well as the squadrons in their separate rolls of film under Histories of each squadron. There are also film under War Diaries of each Squadron and Group.

There may well be a history of the 65th FS at Maxwell AFB.
