They were made by the Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Company (1870 to 1978). I don't have exact dates when they were made, but Pistols of the World indicates they used .32 and .38 rimfire cartridges, so they must date back to the 1930's at least. No serial number lists are available that could provide an accurate date. If a standard lead pencil fits fairly snuggly into the barrel, it's a .32. If the barrel is quite a bit larger than the pencil, it is .38 caliber. Value will be from $35 to $150, depending on condition.

BLue Book of Gun Values
10-100 USD or so
I just purchased one of these at a gun show, serial number 3337. Mine is fully nickle plated, about 98%, and with ivory grips. The bore is very rough, though - not unsurprising for guns made during the black powder era. The caliber is .38 rim fire black powder only. The grips have the serial number scratched into them, which indicates that they are factory original. While categorized as suicide specials along with some very cheaply made guns, these F&W versions compare favorably with similar style guns made during the same period by the "big guys" - Colt, S&W, Merwin Hulbert, Marlin, and Remington, but at 1/4th the price. The value of any gun is what someone is willing to pay at the given time. I paid $250 on 10/17/09.
