Most likely it is the fuel level sending unit that has gone bad. This would have to be replaced.
The dealer has to program it.
Are you sure its the gauge? A quick easy test is to ground the wire to the block. The gauge should sweep to HOT and peg. If it doesnt then the gauge cluster has to be replaced. Not real sure if you can purchase just the temp gauge in the cluster though. I think it comes as one complete package. This would require some dash removal. Not dificult but time consuming. If you want to go the cheaper route you can always mount a separate temp gauge.
A 1993 Mercury Capri (with the 1.6 4 cylinder DOHC engine) requires 3.2 quarts of oil.
This is not a job for a novice as much can be harmed when working with the printed circuit etc. Take it to a garage.

A 1989 instrument cluster will not work in a 1993 Nissan 240 SX. You will need a 1990 to 1994Êinstrument cluster.

Most parts on the cars are interchangeable from 91' to 94' the only things you have to watch is the convertale tops.
