While searching around for the Sears Model 42 103.2840 I ran across a website that said this particular gun is a Marlin 80 and parts for this gun can be obtained from Numrich gun parts in NY. As of 2-10-07 the website shows they are out of stock on the magazine(Numrich item number 403090A for $8.40 each.) Will be calling Monday.
You may have difficulties finding a magazine for a 1966 or 67 Sears Model 42 bolt action rifle due to its age and limited availability. Your best bet is to try online auctions, gun forums, and specialty gun stores that may have vintage parts in stock. Alternatively, you could consider reaching out to Sears or a gunsmith to see if they can help locate a magazine for you.
The model 11 is a bolt action clip, the model 12 is a bolt action magazine tube, and the model 66 is a autoloader (also a magazine tube). The 11 and 12 were made from 62-65 the 66 was made from 59-89.
You can purchase a replacement 7 round magazine from Numrich Arms at www.e-gunparts.com. The Part Number is 403080B Cost is $19.95. It is the same magazine used in the Marlin 80 Bolt Action rifle. Happy shooting!

I believe the Peerless .22 is a department store version of the Savage Model 5 bolt action rifle. The Model 5 is the same as the Model 4 except for the addition of the tubular magazine.
