Remove the air intake box and look beneath the master cylinder and you will see the shift cable. unbolt it from the transmission using the appropriate socket and undo the shift cable. on the inside, remove the center console and undo the cable inside as well

The 1989 Acura Legend transmission shift cable is held in place with swivel nuts. Loosen the swivel nuts on each end of the cable. The transmission shift cable will come out.
