How do you put down the roof of a Ford Capri 1990?

Unclip the 2 roof hooks both sides of the vehicle, lift roof up from the windscreen, this will bring the back of the roof up off the car ( boot area) lift lever at passenger side up which will release the lid for the roof to fold into. This is where it got trickey for me, there are 2 bars that run across the roof, as the roof is going into it's slot pull the bar forward, (toward the front on the vehicle) not difficult to do. The roof then folds neatly into the slot. Hope this helps.

When was the last Ford capri sold?

1987 was the last production year. Hope that helps.Totally depends on which 'Capri' we are talking aboutAustralian Ford/Mercury Capri 1989 - 1994Styled by italians, built by Australians with Japanese Mechanicals. The Ford/Mercury Capri came about because Ford Australia (APAO) had an interst in building & marketing an export project vehicle. The initial approval and funding was given in 1984, to develop a small front wheel drive, two seat convertible. All Capri's were assembled in Melbourne Australia & marketed in Australia and the United States. The Production Capri was based on the successful 1983 Ford of Europe, Fiesta-based Ghia designed 2 seat convertible called the Barchetta (little boat). The Capri exterior was styles by Ford's "Ghia" design studio. The engineering, the interior & folding roof were done by "Ital design" an Italian engineering/design firm. The Mechanicals (engine, transaxle, brakes, suspension & steering) were manufactured & supplied by "Mazda Motors", a Ford Asian Partner. There were two models, the base version and the turbo charged XR2. Both has DOHC 1.6 Litre engines. The base version was rated at an even 100hp AT 5750 rRPM, and 95ft.lb of torque at 5500 RPM, while the XR2 turbo engine was rated at 132hp at 6000rpm and 136ft/lb of torque at 3000rpm. A five speed manual transmission was standard. A four speed automatic was available only on the base (non turbo) version. The "Ford Capri" was initially offered to Australia in 1989. In late 1990 it was marketed & sold in the US as a "Mercury Capri". Ford hoped a Sporty convertible would encourage younger/female customers into Mercury dealerships, where the customer base was primarily older/males.The Capri was not an immediate sales sucess. Ford targeted first year sales of 30,000 but only 21,000 were actually sold & production decreased each of the subsequent years. Despite generally favorable reports from the automotive press, the Capri suffered from initial build quality problems, vehicle recalls, poor marketing support & a negative article in the April 1991 issues of Consumer Reports.Production ceased when the Capri failed to meets its marketing goals & Ford believed that future demand for two seart convertibles in general, was on the decline.Manufacturing continued until the 1994 model year, with total world wide production reaching 66,279. The final year of production 1994 Ford of Australia assembled less than 4,000 Capris & of that number only 366 were XR2's.

How do you fit a Roof rack?

You can fit a roof rack in many different ways for different vehicles. Vehicles will either use fixpoint locations pre-drilled into the roof, use the securing points underneath the rubber door surrounds or secure on a vehicles pre-fitted roof rails. These pre-fitted roof rails normally run from front to the rear of a vehicle, allowing easy fitment anywhere along the rail. For a comprehensive guide of fitment, type Carracks.co.uk in to Google, you can see how it works and also where to buy the parts that you need for a roof rack.

How do you lower the roof of a 1990 ford capri?

Inside the left door (In Australia) are two pull out levers the bottom one opens the door for the roof but it has to be unlocked with the key in the slot above them. Once it has clicked you can unlock the handles at the front. There two little red buttons (one each side) that slide forward so the handle can be pulled down, this releases the front of the roof. now that the front is off lift it up slightly (about 6 inches) and unhook the back of the roof and put it up on top. The roof door can now be lifted up and the roof put into it. Don't force it down and make sure the roof is not pinched between the braces. It should all fall into place then the roof hatch can be closed. If this does not work take it to a dealer and they can help... Cheers Pauly
