Yes the 140 is a cheaper varient of the model 1400. Just as the model 120 is a cheaper varient of the 1200. The only difference is that the 140 and the 120 were offered with hard wood stocks where as the 1400 and the 1200 were offered in Walnut as well as hardwood and even synthetic stocks. The 140 was made as an entry level shotgun with focus towards military and police sales. They were only made for 2 years and they are getting really hard to find. Most people do not remember them at all but they were excellent shotguns.
Your Winchester Model 37A Single Shot Shotgun in 20 gauge, is worth between a high of $140 in 100% condition, to a low of $55 in 60% condition. These values are based on the 30th Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values. I hope you find this information helpful.
Best to ask a gunsmith for help
They only made the Winchester 140 Ranger from 1964-1968.
Not listed in any reference I have. A model 141 is.
Yes...1200, 1300, 1400, 120 and 140 Butt stocks are interchangeable.
Yes the Winchester 140 is a cheaper varient of the model 1400. The only real difference is the type of material used in the storck and foregrip. A 1400 has Walnut or Synthetic stocks avalible. Where as a 140 was only avalible in a hardwood usually birch stock with no checkering and a walnut stain. The word Ranger on the barrel is normal the Model 120 pump and the 140 auto were both in the ranger series. The 140's are getting quite rare and not shown in many articles because Winchester only made 5000 of them in 12,20,16 and 10 gauge. Also the 1400 barrel will interchange with this fine Winchester. email@example.com
