Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world from 1577 to 1580. After that he went on naval missions for England against the Spanish. Sir Francis Drake also used his ships for carrying slaves to Europe.
He found that you could sail round the bottom of south America. He was also the second person to sail around the world.
Drake claimed land North of San Francisco Bay along California's coast. He met friendly Indians and was able to trade with them. Drake claimed the land for England and named it New Albion which we now call Drake's Bay. I hope that's enough info. I am also looking for other claimed lands by Drake.
He was the first Englishman to see the Pacific Ocean, but he did not discover or conquer it. He raided and looted many Spanish ships and was instrumental in delaying Spain's attack on England with their infamous Armada.
