He was born in Aslockton in Nottinghamshire England. At the age of fourteen he was sent to the Jesus College in Cambridge where he spent nearly thirty years. During the 1520s he was chosen to take a minor role in the English embassy in Spain, he came back in June 1527 to be interviewed personally by the king Henry VIII. In 1532 he was appointed the resident ambassador at the court of Charles V, and Cranmer had to follow him to Regensburg Germany. He was later elected Archbishop of Canterbury. On November 13, 1553 Cranmer and four others were condemned to death.
