When the earth was thought as "pangea" or a super continent, all of the continents today were joined. Scientifically, geckos could have come from almost any part of the world, but the eldest documented gecko was a species dating to the Lower Cretaceous Period about a million years ago. This animals body is now residing in a Museum.
