The modern Pueblo Indian groups of the Southwest are their direct descendants. They started leaving the areas they were living and moved to the south and east in the time between 1200 and 1300 AD.

The answer to the question is southeast Utah, but...

The prehistoric tribe lived in the Four Corners area of the southwest United States (northern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, southern Utah and southwestern Colorado) in caves and ledges within narrow canyons. Their most famous dwellings are in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico.

Yes, they were residing in North America, particularly in the south west region, along with other four prehistoric archaeological traditions. Their land extends from south east of Utah, to south west of Colorado, north east of Arizona and occupying most of New Mexico's northern and central areas.

The modern Pueblo people are their direct descendants. Both science and tribal tradition supports this. There is no break in pottery and a myriad of other cultural styles and techniques, just a gradual evolution of change. Many people, such as the Hopi trace specific clans and rituals to specific Anasazi locations. Starting in the 1250s or so the Anasazi gradually moved south and east. The only uncertainty is the exact collection of reasons why they did this. There seem to have been multiple reasons such as drought, change in rainfall patterns, down cutting of canyons, the rise of new religions, new people moving in to the area, and the overuse of resources.
