The Philosophical Institute, Olomouc was a college associated with the University of Olomouc (now reestablished as Palacký University). Gregor Mendel attended there for a term in 1840, taking a year off through illness, then continuing his studies until 1843, when he began his training as a priest.
After college, Gregor Mendel became a monk and joined the Augustinian Order. He continued his studies in science and conducted experiments on pea plants, leading to his groundbreaking discoveries in genetics.
At the time and place where Mendel was a youth, the equivalent of a high school was called a "gymnasium." Mendel went to such an institution in Opava, a city presently in the Czech Republic.
Mendel was ordained on 6 August 1847. He began his theological studies at Brunn Theological College. He was born on 22 July 1822 in Hyncice Czech Rrpublic.
Although he 'attended' the University of Vienna., i can't fidn any reference to him being awarded a degree. He may not have been the brightest of pupils - he twice failed the examination for certification as a teacher, doing particularly badly in biology and geology.
