Legends say that pirates usually planned to sail the seven seas. The seven seas are known today as; (1) Caspian Sea (2) Persian Gulf (3) Black Sea (4) Red Sea (5) Mediterranean Sea (6) Arabian Sea (is part of the Indian ocean) (7) Indian Ocean The reason why pirate preferred these seven seas is because they were all mainly used for trading purposes by merchants. Merchants, obviously being the best target for pirates as they would carry the most valuable commodities.

∙ 14y agoPirates still exist. However, piracy is not as profitable as it used to be because the world's navies are now more effective at policing the seas.
Modern pirates exist particularly off the coast of Somalia, where there are very few naval patrols and law enforcement is non-existent.
