They live in the Puget Sound region of western Washington state. They had 58 long houses in 16 villiages in the area that is now Monroe, Tolt, Fall City, and North Bend in King and Snohomish counties. They are Southern Salish and spoke the Lushootseed language. They call themselves Sduk-al-bixw. In 1855 some went and lived on the Tulalip resevation. The rest stayed where they were. Today they have land in Snohomish county. They were one of the largest of the Salish groups in Puget Sound in the 19th century, about 4000 people.
