The 539th Field Artillery Battalion did not receive credit for a campaign in WW2. It was recognized as an Occupation Force of Germany from 2 May until 31 Oct 1945. The only explanation for this is that they arrived too late to participate in a battle. So, they remained in Germany to help with re-settlement of civilians and maintain peace while the German army disarmed.
