Under a fig tree (now called a Bodhi Tree, where Bodhi means enlightenment) in Bodh Gaya, which is near Patna in India. The original tree has died but a tree that grows in the same spot is a descendant of the original tree. Therefore the most sacred spot for Buddhist is a tree under the open sky.
