It was only a crisis, not a war. It's called the "Cuban Missile Crisis." Because it almost started a war with the Soviet Union; which was going to be a nuclear war. It took place as the name implies on the island of Cuba which is about 90 miles off the Southern tip of Florida.
Cuba Maybe
There was no conflict happening in Cuba. The Soviets had installed nuclear missiles in various positions through out Cuba, which our spyplanes had photographed. We demanded they be removed. The Soviets would not remove them. We told them what we'd do...and began to do it (we went into attack mode with nuclear weapons). The Soviets agreed to remove the missiles.
The missles were in Cuba, but the crisis affected the entire world, which was threatened by nuclear war between the US and the USSR. It was a global crisis.
