...Edited to add...everywhere. There were literally death pits all over the countryside. The cities were forced to be abandoned by the Cambodians who lived there, as the Khmer Rouge regime took over these areas. Death camps also existed, such as the infamous Tuol Sleng, where out of the thousands who were sent there only an alleged 17 or so walked out alive.
