Democracy's early seeds started in ancient Greece and rome. Both split up the ruling parties (a senate) and thus were the foundation of democracy. During the revolutionary war (American colonies vs the British) many people started to come up with idea like democracy.

Some examples of these ideas were:

Common Sense a huge almost book sized pamphlet that dicribed the troubles of monarchy.

French polotitions also played a part with the famous quote "a government should be set up so that no man should fear another"

The Words "Give me liberty or give me death" were also a foundation of democracy.

The American constitution (the first official form of democracy) was put together by the ideas of many peopel aroudn the world.
