Americans started in East America, unaware of the sheer size of the country. They decided to explore past the mountains, and discovered that the rest of America was owned by places like Mexico, France and the UK. They fought each of these and won against all of them, although the vast Plains of America were inhabited by the Native Americans (or Plains Indians) who held their lands for many long years. Basically, the Americans of New York, Virginia and others around that area fought for America and won, so at one point (quite early) they won the North of America. Hope this answers your question, but my deepest condolences if I misread your question
Answer: The first people in the Americas most likely crossed over the Bering Strait on what was a landbridge. (They went from modern-day Siberia in Russia to modern-day Alaska, USA.) This would have happened during the Pleistocene era, more than 20,000 years ago.
