Because they travelled from one place to the other.
The type of homes that the Algonquin's lived in were wigwams. Wigwams are made with a frame of arched poles and are covered with some sort of roofing material.
Some clans within the Algonquin would be: Ojibway, Ottawa, Abenaki, Mic Mac, Maliseet, and the Beothuk. These Algonquin tribes used to live in Canada in Northern Ontario, Northern Quebec, as well as the praire provinces.
Champlain sent someone to live with the Algonquin to strengthen alliances and gather intelligence about the region and its inhabitants. By establishing a closer relationship with the Algonquin, he aimed to secure their support against common enemies, particularly the Iroquois. This also facilitated trade and cultural exchange, which were vital for the success of French colonial endeavors in North America.
