Usually in remote isolated areas.
Nearly 40 countries ended above ground nuclear tests.
India & Pakistan
Only nine countries have confirmed nuclear weapons: United States, Russia (and several former USSR countries), United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel. All of these have conducted known nuclear tests except for Israel. All other countries of the world do not have known nuclear weapons. To see a breakdown of how many weapons each of these countries is believed to have, see the "related links" below.
In remote isolated places. Most testing (except for a few countries) is now done underground, to prevent fallout. The US has ceased all physical testing and uses only computer simulated tests.
At least four countries in Asia have conducted nuclear weapons tests. Even excluding Russia as being only partly Asian, that still leaves China, India, Pakistan and North Korea.
No, underground nuclear tests cannot alter the Earth's axial tilt. The axial tilt of Earth is determined by gravitational interactions with other celestial bodies and is not influenced by nuclear tests.
The Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (1963) prohibits nuclear weapons tests in the atmosphere, outer space, and underwater. Therefore, testing of nuclear weapons has not been conducted in these environments as per the treaty's stipulations. However, underground tests are permitted under the treaty, leading some countries to continue such activities while adhering to the treaty's terms.
Sounds a way out idea. Nuclear tests are currently banned in the major countries, USA, Russia, UK, France, and we don't want to encourage others like Iran!
None.
In 1998, India and Pakistan conducted nuclear weapons tests for the first time, marking a significant escalation in their long-standing rivalry. India's tests, known as Operation Shakti, were conducted in May 1998, followed by Pakistan's tests, named Chagai-I, shortly thereafter. These developments drew international concern over nuclear proliferation in South Asia and heightened tensions in the region.
The first test at Pokhran was in 1974, there were more tests in 1998
