Acapulco is where divers leap off an 100 foot cliff into the Quebrada rocks.
Acapulco is one of Mexico's cheif Pacific Ocean ports. This popular winter resort lies on a beautiful bay 140 miles southwest of Mexico City. "Quebrada" is a Spanish word meaning "gorge" or "canyon." La Quebrada is striking cliff formation on the ocean side of the western peninsula of Acopulco Bay. Daredevil divers perform outstanding feats from this 130 foot cliff. Not only do they have to plunge into a narrow crevice between rocks, but they can only dive on the incoming tide!
La Quebrada's 30 meter cliffs and narrow cove was the very site. Since the 1930's La Quebrada's cliff divers have been wowing tourists.
