Most or all pool skimmers do not have gaskets. However, above ground pools have gaskets that go between the face plate and the liner on one side. On the other side the gasket goes between the back plate and the liner.
Can someone confirm that?
Does it go from the top or bottom
Firstly, the pump is not a sand filter system. The pump is the one with the motor attached and it pumps water not sand. The large round tank is the "sand" filter. You would have to find a skimmer made for vinyl pools with gaskets. It attaches to the wall of the pool and is seen "hanging" from the outside of the pool. The type of pool and equipment have no factor in choosing a skimmer. another good way to go is the Dragonfly Super skimmer this is a floating pool skimmer and only requires a hose to connect it to suction
Yes you can. Drop the waterline in the pool below skimmer level, dig a whole around your skimmer to gain access. Unscrew the skimmer faceplate and remove it as well the old gasket. You also have to remove the second gasket between liner and wall. Detach the pipe(s) from the skimmer. Now install the new skimmer by attaching the pipe(s) to the skimmer put new gaskets in place screw the faceplate back on and you're done. Don't forget to fill your hole again and put water back in the pool to the appropriate level. ;-) Jens Poseidon Pool Services, Dunrobin, ON

You only use the skimmer/s
Ask someone in the pool to retrieve it, or use the skimmer pole to drag it out. Last recourse, of course, is to go into the pool and get it.
Adding algae control to the pool skimmer helps to disperse the chemical and coats the filter media.

The pool's manufacturer. They are not at all standardized across brands, so you need to know what brand your skimmer or pool is, and it helps if you can locate a pool store and bring the old skimmer to them - they may be able to order one, even if they don't have that brand in stock.
Yes possibly In reality, the skimmer will not cause a leak. What causes leaks are people who do not connect or glue the fittings to the skimmer properly. Or ground movement like earthquakes. k
Get a better pool skimmer normal pool skimmers usually don't do a very good job of cleaning rubbish from the surface of a pool so try a floating pool skimmer have a look on www, dragonfly.biz
