Hamsters were first found in 1839 in the Syrian desert in the middle east. They were brought to England in 1931 and to the United States in 1938. It was discovered they made good pets since they were mild tempered and made good pets for children. By 1950 there were 100,000 golden hamsters in the United States. They are one of America's most popular pets.

Hamsters are originally from South America After doing a report with my 2nd grade daughter we learned that it depends on the breed, but the come mostly from Asia. In particular Russia, China, Turkey and a lot of mention of Syria. The first domesticated hamsters were Syrian hamsters.
Hamsters not only come out at night to play on their wheel but probably when the lights are out and you are not in the room. Hamsters prefer the darkness because they are not nocturnal but they can see better at night.it is almost as if it was really dark and you had supper night vision goggles.
no they don't…. if blood does come out that actually means they are sick.
They come in heat every days, Pregnancy lasts 16 days.
One of the uses for hamsters was as laboratory animals for testing and research.
