Not exactly. The name Rebekah is up for use in 2014. However, most hurricane seasons do not have enout storms to reach the letter R, as storms are named in alphabetical order. Addtionally, if this storm does occur, it may only be a trpoical storm, and might not reach hurricane strength.
Asia is the continent struck most frequently by tropical cyclones, the generic term for storms such as hurricanes. Such storms are only called hurricanes in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific oceans.
Tropical storms are known by many names, including hurricanes (North America), cyclones (India) and typhoons (Japan and East Asia). They all occur in a band that lies roughly between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and despite varying wind speeds are ferocious storms. Some storms can form just outside of the tropics, but in general the distribution (location) of these storms is controlled by the places where sea temperatures rise above 27°C.The highest number of storms does not occur in the Atlantic close to the USA, but in the North Pacific affecting countries such as the Philippines and Japan. This is despite the fact that in the UK we only really get to hear about tropical storms affecting the USA. The most affected area being South East Asia receives an average of 26 storms per year. The least affected area is India where there is an average of 2 tropical storms per year
All oceans are famous for their destructive storms. These storms come out of what seems like nowhere and can be devastating for everyone involved.

The decade in the 20th century with the most recorded Atlantic hurricanes was the 1950's with 106 named storms of which 70 storms attained hurricane intensity. However, the 1990's had the greatest number of named storms, 110 of which 63 became hurricanes. Also, it is worth noting that many storms in the earlier decades may have been missed due to the limited technology of the time.
2005 was the most active hurricane season on record with 28 named storms and 15 hurricanes. There were so many storms the hurricane center had run out of names so the last 6 names used greek letters. By the end of August there had been 12 named storms compared to 4 by the end of August 2009.
The most recent hurricane of the 2011 season is Hurricane Katia. This storm is in fact still active. Two other storms are active in the Atlantic: Tropical Storms Maria and Nate. Nate is expected to become a hurricane soon.

No. A hurricane is a type of storm, but most storms are not hurricanes.
Hurricane season for the entire Atlantic Basin begins on June 1 and ends November 30. They are most common in August in September, and it is impossible to predict prior to the season where a hurricane will strike. Tropical storms have occurred in the Atlantic in every month of the year. The "season" is only defined as the period (spring to autumn) when they are most likely. Hurricane season on the Caribbean lasts from late May to early October.
