The oldest city in the Western Hemisphere is Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominica Republic. The city is located in the southern region of the Dominican Republic’s coastline and it offers a wonderful blend of the old and modern worlds in a package. The Zona Colonia is the historical neighborhood and a picture of colonial architectural buildings similar to those in the 15th and 16th centuries and is one of the main attractions in Santo Domingo. Visitors to Santo Domingo will find it easy to get around to the many attractions, shopping and entertainment facilities since they are located close by in the Distrito Nacional area. Located at the Plaza de la Cultura, you will find many of the museums and galleries.
