The walls which allow substances to pass backwards and forwards between the blood and the cells are called capillaries. They are microscopic blood vessels have walls which are 'leaky' which allows substances to pass backwards and forwards. Narrow arteries and veins are connected by capillaries.

Why do capillaries have spaces between endothelial cells?

So that white and red blood cells can pass through the capillaries

Epidermal cells are supplied with nutrients from what blood cells?

Cells in the blood do not provide nutrients to the other cells of the body. The nutrients are in the blood plasma (liquid). These nutrient diffuse through the vessel wall and travel to the bodies cells in the interstitial fluid (the fluid around individual cells). The epidermis does not have blood vessel running through it, so the nutrient must pass from the dermis layer of cells.

How blood and other materials get to the living cells inside the bone?

The bone is composed mostly of two types of bone tissue. Compact bone and Spongy bone. The spongy bone has hundreds of little pores, through which many blood vessels can pass. Also, there are specialized passages in the bone through which a main artery or vein can pass to provide the blood supply and transport the new blood cells

What do the capillaries carry to the body cells?

Capillaries are very thin blood vessels. Oxygen and nutrients and hormones can pass through the walls of the capillaries and reach the body's cells, while red blood cells remain in the capillaries.

Will the red and white blood cells and platelets which make up the blood be remove while urea is remove from the blood why?

No, red and white blood cells and platelets are not removed when urea is removed from the blood. Urea is a waste product that is filtered out by the kidneys, while the red and white blood cells and platelets are important components of the blood that perform essential functions in the body.

Which blood vessels are so thin materials can pass in and out of them?

Capillaries, they have gaps between the cells so that red blood cells and nutrients can pass into the tissues to be used

Are hormones nerve cells?

No. neurons are the cells in the body that pass signals. Hormones are the chemicals that pass signals.

Are veins tiny blood vessels that allow substances to pass between the blood and body tissues?

No, capillaries are what allows substances to go from the walls of the small intestine into your cells. Veins are what carry the blood (with cells inside) to the heart to be oxygenated.

Do capillaries transfer waste filled blood from tissues into the pulmonary circulation?

The Capillaries transfers waste filled blood from the tissues into the Pulmonary circulation.capillariesTiny blood vessels that pass food and oxygen to cells and receive waste from cells.

What is the function of the interstitial?

Interstitial fluid is the liquid which surrounds the cells in the body. The function of intestitial fluid is to carry substances between the blood and the tissue cells. Substances passing out of the blood capillaries eg food, oxygen, pass through the interstitial fluid to reach the body cells. Substances produced by the cells eg carbon dioxide waste, pass through the tissue fluid to enter the blood capillaries. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstitial_fluid
