There is a set that goes in the spark plug tubes. Another set goes under the rocker arms. There is also a set that goes on the bolts.
The Honda Accord EX is the top of the line Accord. The Accord comes is various trim levels starting with the DX. From there you move up to the LX, LX-V6, and finally the EX. Only Honda knows for sure exactly what the letters EX stand for, if they stand for anything. It may be that Honda just uses the term EX to describe their best car, or it may mean Extra. This is a guess, but before i did my reseach and found this page, i convinced myself a good term would be Exclusive!
The 1990 Accord DX & LX models have 125 H.P. The EX model has 130 H.P. The 5 extra horses is because of the dual exhaust system on the EX.
On throttle body. It lets in extra air at idle when engine cold and throttle blade is closed.
Spring needs adjusting or you have installed a spoiler. In that case you need a different spring due to the extra weight of the spoiler.
Probably just 1 Hour. ( It will probably take about 30 mins or less, but as far as I know they charge by the hour, rounding up. ) I have no mechanical skill at all and I was able to replace the valve cover gasket for my 1990 Honda accord in about an hour. Labor will generally run you $40 - $50 an hour so that will be the base labor cost. The gasket itself will probably run you about $25-$30 ( possibly a bit more but I doubt it ) Total cost: Approximately $65 - $80 I got a little frustrated doing it, and may have made minor errors with torqe, although I did not encounter any problems. I would recommend spending the extra $50 to have a professional do it, however it is more that doable at home.
I was told you don't need them, just put silicone on the grommet rings so that they will form to(seal) the valve housing better.
Under the left side-cover (not the battery side) in a small black plastic box. The cover on the plastic box just pops off and there is a place for some extra fuses in the cover lid.
In my '87 accord, replacing the water pump was a big ordeal at the shop - $550 was a bargain price for the job. it involved the same work as replacing the timing belt - which was only $50 extra at that point. Not that this is a specific answer, but the point is that it's hard. Rick
I was puzzled myself about these last time I changed the VCG on my 92 Honda. The oil leak has come back so I am repeating the process and again puzzling what these are for. I've tried everywhere to fit them with no success. They fit nicely into where the spark plug rubber seal fits and wonder if its an alternative for it. I have a situation where the spark plug orifices gradually fill up with oil and spill over onto the exhaust if I break hard. I have tightened the bolts down a tad more. I was hoping that the little o-rings would be my answer. Maybe it's some sort of energy ring. 8)
Leaking heater core almost 100% of the time. Replace heater core. The head gasket separates the top part of the engine from the bottom part of the engine. There are holes in the gasket that send coolant through the engine. Right next to the holes in the gasket is a wall made by the waffering of the metal, gasket, metal. Bigger holes have walls that Separate the pistons from the coolant system. Your head gasket "wall" may be cracked and coolant is getting into the piston hole and burning off in your exhaust. Take a look to see if extra steam comes from your pipe. A healthy engine will normally drip water, but extra steam and the smell of coolant in the exhaust would be a good sign of the damage of the gasket. If you have run your coolant dry or over heated your car recently, it most likely will be this. If the smell is from under your hood, your hose that transports the coolant from the radiator to the motor may be leaking. It may also be the radiator leaking onto the manifold. The hose is the cheap fix. The radiator is expensive and the head gasket is quite a dollar.
If you have a spoiler installed then you need a different spring that is stronger for the extra weight of the spoiler. When the dealer installs a spoiler they change out this spring. If you have no spoiler then the spring is adjustable. Move it to the lowest slot.
Remove the old filter and make sure you remove the old gasket, there should only be 1 gasket.
