You buy them from a religious goods store, or perhaps from nuns or monks who operate a business manufacturing hosts. They generally come packed in plastic bags packed in circular stiff cardboard boxes with a metal cap -- the boxes look like rather squat versions of the tubes used to mail rolled-up posters. The hosts themselves are made by cooking a batter of nothing but flour and water on a polished griddle that looks like a waffle iron. The batter bakes very quickly, and you get a thin sheet of white, unleavened cracker. You attack the sheet with cookie cutters to cut out the round hosts.
