Professional help is the best answer. $75.00 or less if it R134 and conversion necessary if it R12 ($150.00). Do not get suckered. Get a few prices before committing.
Why would you want to even consider doing this? R12 is no longer in production and as such it cost almost 4 times as much as R134. But to answer your question, use R12 in a R134 system and you will destroy the compressor as the oil is not compatible with R134 oil.
pour it into the overflow tank
The 1996 Suburban uses r134 Freon. The fittings to add Freon are different sizes on r12 and r134, making it impossible to add the wrong type to your vehicle.
The 1992 GMC Suburban came from the factory with R12 not R134. Unless it is has been converted to use R134 you cannot simply add R134. If it has been converted you need to have the leak fixed before adding anything. It is illegal to add refrigerant to any system without first repairing the leak. How much it will hold depends on how much leaked out.
2005 ford explorer's do not have a dipstick, the transmission is sealed and needs to be done by a dealer unless you are prepared to do a lot of work
You cant it has to hooked up to a R134 machine and evacuated to see what you have in the system if having cooling prolems add 1/2 pound and recheck
where is low pressure valve on a 2005 ford 500? i am trying to add freon
Don't. R12 is so very expensive that you should have your vehicle converted over to use R134. You have a leak or you would be needing to add refrigerant. Have the leak repaired by a professional and have the system converted over to R134. The will remove all R12 & the oil from the system and replace it with R134 & the correct oil. They should pay you for the R12 due to how valuable it is. You may end up spending very little on this repair.
All you do is shake and add a bit of freestyle.
If it's like the 2001, it's in the right front wheel well, behind the front of the tire. If you don't know what you're doing, don't add freon. You will introduce air into the system and you will ruin your compressor. You need gauges to do this, and the know-how.
You add refrigerant at the low pressure port but you do not add Freon. You add R134/134a. If you are having to add refrigerant then you have a leak that needs to be repaired first.
