How do you fix mini-blinds?
One of the most common problems on mini-blinds are slats that have been damaged or broken by pets or children. The slats on your mini blinds can be replaced. What you will need to do is un-string the blinds to remove the damaged slat, and then restring the blinds with a new slat. Restringing is fairly simple. You just have to thread the cord back through the holes and tie a knot at the end to hold your blinds in place. Another common problem of mini blinds is the tilt mechanism. You can replace the tilt mechanism with a new one. After you have purchased a new tilt mechanism that fits your brand of mini-blind, you will need to remove the end caps on the top of the mini blind so you can get to the tilt mechanism. You can easily pop the old mechanism out and snap the new one in. Then replace your end caps and your tilt wand, and the tilt feature on your blinds should work correctly. If your blinds are extremely damaged, you can easily replace them. When doing so, buy the same brand of mini-blinds that you already have. If you stick with the same brand, the brackets should match up, so you should not have to replace those too. Then, you can just slide the old mini-blinds off the brackets and slide the new ones into place.

ODL Mini-Blinds: Convenient and Affordable?
Easy install blinds When a customer contacts you to help decorate their windows, you usually have to explain that it will be several weeks from the time that you measure the windows until you receive the mini-blinds from the manufacturer and can install them. This wait time works against you when the customer needs a faster turnaround time. ODL has a solution for this problem with their add-on mini-blinds. Mini-blinds have always been a dust-trap and time-consuming to clean. You have to wipe each slat individually or take them down to wash. ODL solved this problem by putting the blinds behind a glass panel. Your customer can enjoy clean blinds without the labor. This is especially helpful to seniors. Your customers will appreciate the clever built-in controls for opening and closing the blinds. They blend in with the framework and eliminate the trip hazard of corded mini-blinds. Sometimes young children tug on the cords, pulling the blinds down from the wall and possibly getting hurt. This cannot happen with ODL blinds since there is no cord. Installing these mini-blinds takes only 15 minutes and four easy steps. Open the screws, place the spacers on the bottom, hang the blinds and lock the clasp. You do not even need a drill. Pricing on these mini-blinds is competitive at under $100, and appreciably less when on sale. They are an in-stock item at many home improvement stores. This eliminates the long wait time for custom mini-blinds. ODL mini-blinds are an attractive and affordable window treatment.

How to Measure and Install Mini Blinds?
Have you made the decision to purchase mini blinds to block the sun's bright light and heat from your home, as well as give you that extra privacy? Do you need help knowing where to measure for the correct size of mini blinds? Are you frustrated and unsure and just need a simple guide? Here are a few steps to help make your job easier. Step 1: Decide if you want an inside or outside mounting. If you wish to have coverings over the mini blinds, inside mountings work the best. Step 2: For inside mounting, you will need to measure from the top inside corner to the opposite inside corner to find the width. To find the length, measure from the top of the window to slightly below your window sill. Step 3: For outside mounting, you need to measure the width and length of the entire area to be covered. The measurements should overlap your window by 1 ½ “ on both sides. Measure the length at least 3” above the window. Step 4: To install your blinds, remove them from their boxes and carefully unwrap the cords from the blinds. Step 5: Get your cordless screwdriver or drill and a step stool or ladder, if needed. Step 6: Screw the brackets to the window casing at the top of the window. Use two or three screws. Step 7: If the window is wide enough, you will need to install the middle bracket for support. Step 8: Make sure that the cord is untangled and to the right, and that the wand is on the left slide the mini blinds. Step 9: Once the mini blinds are positioned right into the brackets, slide the end caps or locks over the end of the blinds to secure them in place. Step 10: Release the blinds and let them hang properly. Test that you can open and close them properly as well. You have now successfully measured and installed your mini blind window treatments, and you will now be able to block out a lot of the sun. However, you should remember that blinds are not insulating window treatments, just light filtering. You may want to consider adding additional window coverings over the mini blinds if you desire insulation as well.

How To Hang Mini Blinds?
Hanging mini blinds does not have to be a challenging task that you keep putting off because you are not confident that you can get it done correctly. If you know what basic steps to take, this can be very easy. It may only take you ten minutes. You will love the way that the blinds make your home more functional, blocking the sun and giving you the privacy that you desire. This is something that you should do right away if these are things that you have been looking for in your home. You must begin by measuring the windows to make sure that the mini blinds will actually work in the space that you have. Remember that it is not such a bad thing if the blinds are slightly wider than the windows. They will overlap on the edges, but they will still look great and they will work perfectly. If they are too small, though, they will not be effective. They will look out of place and they will still allow blinding sunlight to get into the room. You need to measure the width of the windows, the distance between windows that are close to each other, and the distance from the top of the windows to the ceiling. Next, you have to hang up the brackets. These are different for all different types of blinds, but they should be fairly easy to hang. You will just want to make sure that you measure down from the ceiling before you put the first screw in either bracket. You need these to be hung at exactly the same height or the blinds will look very sloppy. It is much easier to measure down from the ceiling than it is to measure up from the floor. You also want to measure from the edges of the windows to make sure that you get the right spacing. Once the brackets are up, you have to attach the blinds themselves. Most of the time, they will just slide it with the help of a clip. Sometimes, you will need to screw them together. All blinds use a system that is very easy to understand.
How do you shorten blinds?
What kind of blinds and which direction. Mini blinds. In width, draw the blind all the way up, hold tightly, and a hacksaw can be used to cut the ends. A power miter saw can be used if you hold the blind VERY tight and go VERY slow on the cut. If not experienced I would use the hacksaw. You can only shorten them by about 2 inches in width. In length, the bottom rail come off, shorten how ever much needed and reinstall the the bottom.

How do you fix broken cords on blinds?
With the low cost of mini-blinds it is easier to replace them. If you are talking about more expensive items i.e. Vertical blinds, wooden louvered blinds etc. Then remove the blinds from the wall and lay them flat and spread out on the floor. If the cord is still attached but severed at some point you can find the same size cord and attach the new piece to one of the ends of the old cord and "snake" it through until the old cord is completely replaced. I have fixed several vertical blind in this manner but I feel that it maybe a difficult and tedious job for mini-blinds. Good Luck! Douglas
