you need to buy spark plugs and spark plug wires first. Buy a spacer so you can replace the spark plug back into the hole correctly. First, take the spark plug wires off the spark plugs BUT NOT OFF THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP!!! Then, put the new spark plugs in using the spacer and ratchet. It doesn't matter which spark plug goes where. (wrench, pliers, whatever). Next replace ONE WIRE AT A TIME so as not to mess up the firing mechanism. Make sure you replace the wire in the exact position as the old one was. Otherwise, if replaced incorrectly, the engine will fire each piston at different times. Then, start the engine. If your engine starts to gurgle or sound funny and vibrates, that means you have incorrectly replaced the wires and you need to switch the order of the wires. If the engine is running properly, good job!

Go to auto parts store and buy new spark plug wires. Arrange new wires, longest to shortet. Starting with the longest ones, remove old plug wires one at a time and replace them with matching length new ones. (length can be approximate) Do this until all wires are replaced. note: it's a good idea to get some dielectric grease from your auto parts store and coat both of your new spark plug wires ends before installing. Makes them last longer and also easier tune ups.

I can tell you that i bought my first and last set of Xact spark plug wires, been on the car for 2 months, had to take the valve cover off the car, everyone of the plug wires either broke off around the spark plug or just straight out broke, right now I'm trying to figure out how to get 2 of the pieces out from around the spark plugs, so i can put a different companies wires on the car, do not buy these cheap junkie wires, you will regret it later! In 35 years of working on cars I've never seen anything like this happen!

You can go to the dealer or to an auto parts store to buy new spark plug wires. When you get them open the box and lay the plug wires side by side on the work bench,you will see that there are 4 wires and each one is slightly longer than the other. Now looking at the engine, you will see that there are 4 plug wires on the top of the cylinder head, starting with the plug wire on the far left, gently pull the plug boot ( do not pull on the wire ) free of the spark plug hole, then follow the wire to the plastic connector, this is round and cylindrical in shape,on the right side of the connector you will see a lever, push the lever in, and pull connector apart, then taking the longest new wire, push the connector together until it " clicks ", then press the spark plug boot down firmly until it is in place,compare the new one you just replaced to the other old 3 ones and see how far down it should be. Then continuing from the left to the right, replace the remaining spark plug wires. ( note ! ) Only remove 1 spark plug wire at a time.

I just recently encountered the same problem with my 91 jeep wrangler.. you will prob need a large set of needle nose pliers, to grab about 2/3 of the way down on the rubber boor connected to the spark plug, then twist back and forth while pulling away from the spark plug. You will probably be able to get them off this way without damaging the wires, but for $14.99 i would just go buy a new set of plug wires, its probably about that time anyway. GOOD LUCK.
