Is your ABS light on as well? A common problem with recent Grand Ams would be the speed sensor located inside the wheel hub. If this sensor goes haywire (like many, many have), you will have to replace the entire hub. The sensor itself is not serviceable. FYI.
there is a button you can push to turn the electronic traction system off and on my 2002 se has it on the dash right by the hazard light button some models have it by the shifter
the traction system controls the engine so when wour wheels slip it corrects the problem giving you extra traction
