∙ 2005-12-20 05:03:25The 2001 Ford Mustang has a 5-speed manual.
It could have either the automatic or manual transmissions
look in your manual
Overflow Bottle.
On the coolant overflow bottle
what year? Are you talking about the ecu? I am looking for the coolant temperature sensor on a 2001 ford mustang 3.8.
The 2001 Ford Mustang owners manual shows 5 quarts / 4.7 liters ( with filter change )
It is built in the bottom of the coolant refill bottle. You have to replace the entire bottle if you have a bad sensor. If you don't want to fix it you can unplug the wire harness from the coolant bottle this will turn off the low coolant light on the instrument cluster, But you will always have to check your coolant level. If your somewhat handy you change the bottle yourself for around $75-$95.00.
The coolant goes into the overflow bottle on the passenger side, fill it cold and do not over fill.
According to the 2001 Ford Mustang Owner Guide , the 5 speed manual transmission that is used with the 3.8 liter V6 engine takes ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid )
5 w 20 ( according to the owners manual )
