can anyone tell me where to find the OBD2 plug in on a 1999 cougar?
By digging under ground. You might find them while digging for treasure. You will need the Exporer Kit. Good Luck.
Buy yourself an OBD2 scanner and you can turn off the light whenever you want whenever it comes on and you can see why it has been turned on....or take it to a mechanic and have him use the same technique, ( if you know a mechanic yourself he might just have an OBD2 scanner or find someone with one

With an OBD2 scan tool.
OBD2 diagnostics were federally mandated for all cars made/assembled/imported into the USA in 1996. A quick check of the emissions label on top of the radiator should tell you, as well as the shape of the diagnostic port. yes, any OBD2 tool will work.
All OBD2 connectors on 2004 vehicles of any make are found on the left (drivers) side under the dash panel. Most have covers to protect the prongs.
the diagnostics connector can be found under the passenger seat alongside the ecu. Actually that's the diagnostic, what the guy wants is the OBD2, not the same thing. That plug can be found if you feel in the middle of the dashboard above the A/C controls for a clip that unclips the whole middle center of the dash and under there you can find all the fuses and the OBD2 plug
Take out the ashtray (in front of the gear stick) and in there you will find the connector
Hi, Not sure about the 00 model - most OBD2 plugs are close to the central ashtray. However on my 2003 Seat Ibiza the OBD2 plug is on the left side of the car - below the steering wheel on the left is a tiny glove compartment. Remove that compartment and behind it you'll find the plug. Took me 30 minutes to find! Blaise
